HANDMADE
Grey Browns are a selected brick from the very middle of the kiln where temperatures are highest, at around 1,200°C.
Colours are determined by the temperature the brick reaches during firing, which varies considerably depending on the location of the brick within the kiln. The bricks at the outer edge of the kiln reach temperatures of around 900°C, producing the lighter orange bricks. At the centre of the kiln the bricks reach temperatures of up to 1,200°C, resulting in the darker brown colours.
In order to ensure consistent and even colour, all of our bricks are blended by hand after being removed from the kiln. This brings greater consistency to our standard ranges and also enables extremely accurate matching to existing brickwork.
